Pacha delighted as he hails progression after wins over Clan
Dundee Stars head coach Omar Pacha has revealed he saw progression from the pre-season games to when his side powered past Glasgow Clan twice at the weekend.
His side made a perfect start to their regular season with two back-toback wins over Glasgow in the Challenge Cup.
On Saturday night the Clan hosted the Stars and Dundee made a blistering start before going on to win 6-3.
Then 24 hours later they did it again as another quick start helped them to a 7-2 victory at Dundee Ice Arena.
Pacha said: “It was a good start to the season and we scored some nice goals.
“I liked the way we competed, the way we worked and the way we progressed from last week, which is probably the most important thing – our progression from week one to week two.
“Sometimes it’s just about progressing as a team and that is all we want to do.
“We want to progress week by week and get better as a team.”
The Canadian found plenty of positives from the games.
Pacha added: “We showed we have a lot of speed and I thought we were better defensively on Sunday.
“So that is another positive because we were better on the second night, which is good to see as that shows we are able to adjust.
“I like how we were composed and stuck up for each other and there are obviously a lot of positives when you win both games.
“However, we allowed two powerplay goals on Sunday but one was on a five-on-three and kind of a fluke.
“Overall, we took a big step forward but there is still a lot of work to be done.”
Now he must prepare his team for a league opener against Manchester Storm and a visit from rivals Fife Flyers in the cup next weekend.
“It’s back to work today and preparing for our first league game,” said Pacha.
“We have to have another hard week of practice and get ready for the weekend.”
