Loons looking for winning formula – and three points

-

Forfar manager Jim Weir is hoping that the visit of a buoyant East Fife side will be the catalyst his men need to bounce back into match-winning form.

The Loons have lost to Peterhead and played out a goalless draw with Clyde in their last two outings and Weir wants a return to picking up three points in this League One clash.

He said: “East Fife had a terrific result last Saturday when they defeated Raith Rovers 4-2. Like us, they want to be competing in the top half of the league and hopefully having the chance to climb over them, and indeed into top spot, will get us back on track.

“We appear to have hit a sticky patch in the last couple of games, where we have not been able to find the net. We were really unlucky against Clyde, where we hit the woodwork twice, so we are creating chances, however, it will be good to get scoring again.”

Weir added: “East Fife had the opposite problem in that they have scored eight times in their last two outings. We have only lost one goal during that time and defensively we have been tight all season.

“We need to continue like that to win this one. However, if we play like we have been playing we will eventually lose goals so we need to get going again.

“We have not had any lengthy spells in either of our last two games where we could say that we were on top. We need to change that for this one and we will go out looking to do that.”

“We also need to make sure that we win more second balls than our opponents do, as that has not been the case, either.

“I want to see crosses go into our opponents’ box and I want to see players making runs trying to get on the end of them. Hopefully we will get that winning formula on the park in this one.”

Weir has no injury or suspension concerns ahead of picking his line-up.
