Kelty Hearts were a little unfortunate to get knocked out of the Challenge Cup on penalties by English National League side Solihull Moors at New Central Park.

Cammy Russell had put Barry Ferguson’s side in front on 38 minutes and had looked the better side until the West Midlands side managed by former Blackburn keeper Tim Flowers, equalised through Matthew Stenson on 72 minutes.

Hearts missed two of their first four kicks before former Birmingham City man Darren Carter converted Moors’ fourth to put them through to the next round

Jeanfield Swifts crashed out of the Scottish Cup, losing 5-2 at home to Linlithgow Rose and the Perth side look to have lost striker Mark Smith for a lengthy period after he was taken to hospital with what looked to be a serious shoulder injury.

Twelve minutes after the break Swifts were reduced to 10 men when Michael Kennedy was sent off and Coyne increased the lead with his second penalty. Rhys Davies pulled a goal back on 70 minutes but Allum made it 4-1 on 77 minutes.

A minute later Stephen Scott showed Swifts weren’t totally out of it but Ruari Maclennan scored a fifth for Linlithgow in stoppage-time.
