Disgraced ex-teacher convicted of assaulting teenage girl

-

A disgraced ex- teacher has been convicted of kicking a child and throwing a metal dumbbell at her.

Alan Norris, who was struck off after a child assault conviction last year, admitted hauling the teenage girl to the floor in a fit of rage.

Norris, 49, was admonished for the first attack, on a 15-yearold boy, but has now had sentence deferred for reports over the latest assault.

He admitted assaulting the 14-year-old girl in Birnam on May 13 by seizing hold of her and pushing her to the floor.

He then kicked her on the body before throwing a metal dumbbell at her.

The weight struck her on the body as she was lying on the ground.

Norris, who was said to be living in the Stirling area, had been a teacher at Craigie Primary School in Perth until he was suspended and then sacked after the first assault.

In that case, the same court heard last year how Norris assaulted the boy in a row over the way he was cutting an apple.

Norris lost his job and his teaching career after he admitted assaulting a child by grabbing him and dragging him across the floor in March 2017.

The youngster clashed with Norris over the way he was chopping the apple as it may have marked a work surface.

Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney said: “The accused grabbed his wrist and pulled him out of a chair which led to him sliding across the floor and into a wall.”

Norris was later traced by police in a room at a Travelodge.

He was admonished but was subsequently removed from teaching after a hearing at the General Teaching Council.
