Woman sustains serious head injuries in morning collision
A 36-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries yesterday after a crash in Dundee.
The accident happened at 7am on Barlow Avenue in West Pitkerro Industrial Estate.
According to witnesses, the woman was hit by a car as she crossed the road.
She was on her way to work at Dover Fueling Solutions, just a few hundred metres away.
The road was closed from the junction with Baldovie Road to allow police to carry out investigations into the circumstances.
A shaken witness, who did not wish to be named, said: “I was travelling in a car down Barlow Avenue when I saw her appear from behind a lorry.
“It looked like she was about to get in a car on the other side of the road when it happened.
“She hit the windscreen and flew forward, hitting her head off the road. It looked like she was unconscious.”
Another man, also a Dover Fueling Solutions employee, added: “I know her from the office. She seems like such a nice lass.
“I really hope she’s all right.” Officers were seen examining a black Toyota parked at the side of the road which had a large dent on the passenger side of the windscreen.
Traffic was being diverted to another entrance to the industrial estate further south down Baldovie Road.
A spokesman for the force said: “A 36-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries following a collision with a vehicle.
“The driver of the vehicle involved did stop at the scene and has been assisting with our investigation.
“If you have any information, please call 101.”
