Giant undertaking awaits Stars across the water with Belfast test

-

Dundee Stars are expecting a difficult contest when they come up against the reigning Challenge Cup holders Belfast, according to Jordan Cownie.

After a difficult weekend where the Stars claimed just a point from two home games, Cownie believes there was plenty of good signs from last weekend’s matches.

He said: “I think as a whole we have taken the positives out of the weekend.

“Saturday night was a tough game but I feel like Sunday night we bounced back really well and it was only the third weekend of the year, so a lot of positives to take out of it.

“We have had a couple good days of practice this week, all the guys have been super positive and are working hard.

“So, we are really looking forward to the weekend.”

Cownie added: “I think the biggest thing is, when we get big wins is not to get too high and when we have disappointing losses not to get too low.

“So, if we can just stay in that mindset then I think we will be fine.”

Looking ahead to this weekend, the 24-year old admitted that the Stars are expecting a big challenge when they come up against Elite League and Challenge Cup champions in Belfast tomorrow night.

Jordan said: “We are confident but Belfast are a good team and it’s going to be a tough challenge.

“We have had success in the Challenge Cup already this campaign, so it is going to be a great game.”

The Stars face Manchester Storm on Sunday at home in the Elite League as they seek revenge for the 3-1 loss the Storm two weekends ago.
