Two motorcyclists in their 50s have died in separate tragedies on Fife and Perthshire roads.

A 54-year-old rider was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of a crash near Dairsie in Fife which led to the closure of the A91 on Saturday.

The man, who has not yet been named, was riding a green Kawasaki motorcycle which was involved in a collision with a blue Toyota Yaris car.

Emergency services raced to the scene, near the entrance to Clayton caravan park.

Sadly the motorcyclist, who had been travelling with a fellow rider, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident closed the A91 for several hours, with drivers caught up in long delays.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Nicola Young, of the divisional road police unit, said a number of people had stopped to help at the scene.

She added: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen any of these vehicles before the collision.”

She also appealed to anyone who had information which could help with the police investigation, including dashcam footage, to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3359 of September 21 2019.

The Fife incident followed the death of another motorcyclist in a collision on the A85 near Crianlarich in Perthshire on Friday.

The incident between a black Triumph motorcycle and a blue BMW 320 car occurred at around 4.30pm, around half a mile south of the village.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver and his female passenger in the BMW were uninjured.

Police Scotland have also sought information from others who may have been on the popular route and were using a dashcam.

Sergeant Ruth Aitchison said: “If you were in the area around the time of the incident and have any information, including dashcam footage, which could assist in our inquiry please get in touch by contacting Police Scotland via 101 and quoting incident 2835 of September 20 2019.”
