Bluebell take the bragging rights in derby

Dundonald Bluebell emphatical­ly took the bragging rights from their local derby against Crossgates Primrose at Moorside Park, romping to a 6-1 victory in the East of Scotland League Premier Division.

The visitors took an early lead through Mark Wilkie after 11 minutes but Stuart Cargill equalised less than 60 seconds later. The former Kelty striker added a second to put Bluebell in front on 19 minutes and then completed his hat-trick, 10 minutes into the second half. Billy Rogerson scored a quick fire double on 79 and 84 minutes before Chris Gay added a sixth in stoppage time.

Oakley United shocked St Andrews United in the opening week of the first division season, winning 5-0 at Barnetts Park, but Saints turned the tables on their Fife rivals in Saturday’s return at Blairwood Park winning 4-0 with Owen Andrew and Kyle Wilson scoring twice. The win lifts Saints to the top half of Conference A.

Burntislan­d Shipyard beat Ormiston at Recreation Park, running out 6-2 winners. Reece Brown scored a hat-trick for Lee Duffy’s men with Grant Skinner and Robbie Crawford also netting after an own goal by the home side.

Camelon led the Football Nation Qualifying Cup Round 2 tie against Glenrothes with a fourth minute own goal and then Connor McMullan made it 2-0 on 19 minutes before Alan Docherty made it three, 10 minutes before half time, but Lea Schiavone managed to pull a goal back for Glens just before the break.

Stephen King pulled a second goal back for the visitors on 73 minutes but Ross Cameron ended any hopes Glens had with a fourth for Camelon in stoppage time.

Jeanfield Swifts’ tie against First Division Haddington Athletic saw them exit the competitio­n after a 2-1 defeat. Swifts took the lead on 20 minutes through Scott Smith’s goal but the Hi Hi came storming back in the second half and Ryan Hutchison equalised on 72 minutes before Jordan Keenan hit the winner with six minutes left.

Kinnoull beat Conference A leaders Leith Athletic at Tulloch Park in the second round of the Alex Jack Cup. The only goal of the game came after 13 minutes through Adam Frydrychow­icz, putting the Perth side in to the quarter finals and a home tie to Oakley United. Winners will face Dunbar United also at home.

Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts may be flying high in Conference B of the EOSL First Division but they found Musselburg­h Athletic a step too far in the Alex Jack Cup quarter final, with the East Lothian side running out 4-1 winners at Ballast Park.
