Third success for Neilston B team

- WITH NEIL ANDERSON

The SANACC Scottish Club Championships final was held at Lake of Menteith with 20 teams competing for the prizes.

The fish have been fairly well spread out over the lake and this was borne out by the distribution of the boats.

The main areas that were concentrated on seemed to be Gateside, Sam’s Point, The Butts and Lochend.

Winners were Neilston FF B’s James Litster, Brian MacKenzie and Tom Burnett, who claimed the title for the third time since 2015. They landed 46 trout for a total of 96lb 1.2oz. James was top rod with 21.

Second place went to Rothes Oak AC’s team of Gary Ormiston, Paul Cushnie and Willie Simpson. They landed 42 fish for 86lb 7.6oz.

Alba Orvis A’s Gregor Fleming, Calum Crosbie and Steven Welsh had 36 fish for 74lb 3.3oz and third place.

The 60 anglers in the final landed a total of 523 fish for 1,094lb 12.2oz, (first two weighed with 2lb for released fish).
