Warning to motorists as major resurfacing repairs take place

-

A section of the A9 in Perthshire will be restricted this weekend as £19,000-worth of roadworks are carried out.

The resurfacing works will take place on the southbound carriageway at the bottom of Carnie Brae between Broom of Dalreoch and Aberuthven from 7.30pm tomorrow to 6.30am on Monday.

Crews will be working around the clock to carry out surfacing repairs across sections of the route, as well as making improvements to road markings.

The improvements had originally been programmed to take place in August but the project was postponed due to adverse weather.

A contraflow traffic management system will be in place for safety reasons during the works.

Signed diversions will also be in place for people looking to get on or off the A9 via the B9141 Dunning road or the U50 Findo Gask road.

Andy Thompson, Bear Scotland’s north east representative, said: “The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists during this project.

“To help minimise delays as much as possible, we’ve planned the improvements to take place over one weekend using 24-hour working, and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A9.”

Bear is encouraging road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and to allow extra time.
