Proof was heard in Cupar Sheriff Court in an action by Mrs Catherine Beveridge or Bett, Falkland, against John Morgan, farmer, Kilgour, for £75 in respect of injuries received on October 29 last, when she was thrown out of one of his carts while on her way home from potato-lifting at Kilgour. She said that the driver of the cart was a lad of 12 years. His younger brother removed the pin of the cart and couped it and six people in it. One doctor had said her leg was fractured, but another said it was merely bruised.

The Queen Mother captured the heart of Dysart folk yesterday when she opened a group of old fishermen’s houses which are being restored by the National Trust for Scotland on the sea front. About 1,000 adults and children lined the shore road – now the Pan Ha’

– to cheer the Royal visitor. Conditions were cold and blustery, but there was no doubt about the warmth of their welcome and their special affection for the Queen Mother. She delighted the crowd by stopping for unschedule­d chats with old and young.

A major European telecommun­ications contract totalling £14.7 million has been secured by the Glenrothes-based Interconne­ction Product division of Litton Industries. The contract from Fujitsu Fulcrum Telecommun­ications is expected to create at least 20 jobs over the next two years and involves an investment of £500,000 in capital equipment to balance production capacity. The three-year contract follows close collaborat­ion to design and manufactur­e two complex interconne­ction systems.

Neil McCann has been sacked as Dundee manager with the side bottom of the Scottish Premiershi­p. McCann, 44, had been in charge since April 2017 but suffered seven defeats in his last eight league games, prompting speculatio­n that an experience­d coach could be brought in to bolster the rookie manager. But in the words of a statement confirming McCann’s departure, those attempts “did not come to fruition”. Assistant boss Graham Gartland has also been relieved of his role.
