Week of roadworks planned for bustling Fair City roundabout

-

Major roadworks will start at a busy Perth roundabout this weekend.

From Sunday evening, Perth and Kinross Council road maintenance workers will be carrying out resurfacing works on a 150m stretch of the A93 at the new Glasgow Road roundabout.

The section includes where Lamberkine Drive meets Broxden Avenue, leading to Broxden services, as well as the carriageway heading westbound towards the Broxden Roundabout.

Providing the weather does not hinder the work, crews are scheduled to be at the site for five nights.

Temporary traffic lights will be in use while the road is being upgraded, and will be in operation between 9pm and 6am each night.

This has been agreed in order to ensure that traffic can still access Broxden Services and Glasgow Road during the resurfacing.

A signed diversion will, however, be in place to access Lamberkine Drive during working hours.

The local authority said this measure has been taken to minimise the large volume of traffic queuing on to the Broxden Roundabout and the A9.

A council spokesperson said: “We would apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused during the works.

“Every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum.

“Neighbouring residents and businesses have been notified in advance.”

Elsewhere in Perthshire, overnight road closures take place for three nights during resurfacing works next week.

The upgrading works on the A85 near St Fillan’s will begin on Tuesday.
