Wanderers up against title rivals in firecracker clash

-

For the first time this season all four realistic contenders for the Premiership title are in direct opposition today.

MJV Wanderers and Clydesdale Western share equal points at the top of the table but while today’s visitors have had to do it the hard way with tough stints over Edinburgh University and Wildcats it’s been an easier path so far for the home side.

Today’s clash at Dalnacraig has the look of a real firecracker.

The Dundee outfit undoubtedly have the strikeforce to see off their rivals, hitting the target 19 times against one concession but the team from the west are also no slouches in front of goal.

The other meaningful scrap takes place at Peffermill where five-time champions Edinburgh University have their work cut out to stave off the ambitious Cats, hot tips to give GHK a mauling tomorrow.

Grove Menzieshill should bounce back from last week’s unexpected loss to keep the points at home against Merlins Gordonians. The Taysiders will also look to consolidate their top six spot by adding a few goals against the league rookies.

St Andrews University face a tough Division 2 encounter away to Erskine Stewart’s Melville.

Grove’s reserve squad travel to their Hillhead counterparts with high hopes of doubling their points tally in Champ 2.

In Champ 3 Kinross are away to Kelburne II while St Andrews II travel to leaders Wildcats II.

Locally, Midland champions Wanderers II face Kinross II while rivals Madras FP sit on the sidelines.
