Former sailor in Merchant Navy admits threatening conduct

-

A former Merchant Navy sailor hammered on the door of a Perth property before swearing at concerned neighbours.

Adrian Summers fell into a rage after a conversation with his partner before turning on another man.

The 43-year-old admitted threatening behaviour at Perth Sheriff Court.

Depute fiscal Robbie Brown told the court: “The complainer arrived home shortly after the accused.

“They had been talking. The accused walked out and shortly after there was banging on the door.”

Mr Brown said Summers had called the woman several derogatory names.

“As a result of this disturbance the other complainer became alerted,” he said.

“The accused went inside and there was further argument between the accused and the complainer.

“The accused then came out of the house and started swearing at the other complainer.”

Solicitor Billy Somerville, defending, said Summers had left the Merchant Navy and had been suffering from depression and anxiety.

He said: “The accused and the complainer have separate addresses and since this incident have remained friends.

“Two months prior to this he had to give up employment in the Merchant Navy.”

Summers, of Union Lane, Perth, pled guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting and swearing at his partner and shouting and swearing at the neighbour, before challenging him to a fight, at an address in Glover Street on August 18.

Sentence was deferred.
