Bollan demands better display

-

Cowdenbeath boss Gary Bollan wants his players to put in a performance that doesn’t give East of Scotland League team Broxburn any hope that they may book a berth alongside Inverurie Locos in next month’s third round of the Scottish Cup.

The sides are meeting at Albyn Park in a replay after a last-minute goal from Nicky Locke earned the visitors a 1-1 draw.

However, Bollan is quick to point out a draw was the right result. He said: “Our performance last Saturday gave Broxburn the hope they could get something – and they built on that.

“We scored a very good individual goal through David Cox 17 minutes from time and I would have happily taken the 1-0 win but they hit back right at the end.

“I could not grudge them it.

“They will be doing their utmost to get through again and what we have to do is play in a manner that does not give them a chance of doing that.

“We had done our homework and watched them play twice but we were flat last weekend. “

The Central Park manager has gone easy on his players despite their performance.

He explained: “We have put last Saturday down to an off-day but thankfully we have the chance to put that right and progress in the cup.”

Bollan expects to have on-loan Hibs goalkeeper Kevin Dabrowski back available after a fractured cheekbone, with Kris Renton in line to return.

Missing will be on-loan Hearts duo Chris Hamilton and Connor Smith, who have not been given permission to play by the Tynecastle club.
