MJV to face champions

-

Bolstered by last week’s win over Clydesdale Western, MJV Wanderers are out to preserve their 100% record in today’s capital clash against reigning Scottish club champions Edinburgh University.

In contrast the students have made an unusually faltering start.

They trail the Dundee outfit by six points, however recent signs are that recovery is on the way with Sam Judge’s new-look squad beginning to gel.

Clydesdale welcome Grove Menzieshill.

The Taysiders have put a decent run together so far but it’s a bit of a stretch to expect them to stem the inevitable salvos that will surely come their way from Glasgow’s big guns.

Waiting to take advantage of any unforeseen results are Watsonians and Wildcats.

The Cats badly need a win to claw their way back into the title race after a shocking five-point loss last weekend.

In Championship 1 the table placings suggest Stirling University will have the upper hand against Waverley Inveresk Trinity while Grove’s reserve squad will need a slice of luck if they are to take something from Clydesdale.

Home advantage could edge a result for Dundee University against Haddington at Riverside in Championship 2 while Kinross will welcome Ayr.

The stand-out match in Midland Division 1 is Madras v Wanderers II.

Grove Menzieshill will make their Scottish U18 Cup debut at Peffermill tomorrow with first round matches against Clydesdale Western, Inverleith and Grange.
