Tennis ace Andy Murray and wife Kim celebrate arrival of third child

Judy Murray yesterday welcomed her newest grandchild as “a lovely, happy, healthy baby boy”.

Tennis ace Sir Andy and wife Kim Sears are celebrating the birth of their third child.

The baby, born last week, is a first son for the couple, who already have daughters Sophia, three, and two-yearold Edie.

Andy’s mum Judy, 60, revealed her joy on Radio Scotland’s Mornings With Kaye Adams programme.

She said: “It’s lovely news.

“It’s lovely to have a little boy to go with the two little girls. He was born a few days ago. I’ll leave Andy and Kim to fill in any further details but yeah, a lovely, happy, healthy baby boy.”

Murray, 32, who has won three tennis Grand Slams, two Olympic gold medals and is continuing his tennis comeback from a hip operation, recently announced the birth to friends and family.

Judy’s mum Shirley Erskine, 85, travelled from her home in Dunblane to meet her new great grandson.

Judy appeared on the Radio Scotland morning show to discuss the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The tennis coach reached week eight of the celebrity dance competition in 2014, partnered by pro dancer Anton du Beke, but five years on she has revealed her Saturday night routines in front of millions of TV viewers felt like “torture”.

She said: “The whole experience was amazing and it was so much fun apart from Saturday night when you actually had to dance, and then it is torture.

“If you’re not in the entertainment industry or a performer of any sort, actually doing something in front of a live audience and judges and cameras and lights and a band and all the rest of it, and doing something that you are absolutely rubbish at, is torture.”
