Misfiring goal-line tech infuriates Lord

-

Andrew Lord has blasted Elite League bosses after the failure of goal-line technology at Dundee.

Cardiff Devils’ respected playcaller said he cares passionately about the division. He did not criticise the Dundee organisation but added: “This technology has to work.”

His comments follow a valuable 4-2 road win at Dundee Ice Arena (periods 2-0, 1-2, 1-0) on Sunday which leaves Dundee in second-bottom position in the ten-strong league.

Devils have moved up to fourth place and Lord said: “I thought our first (period) was excellent.

“They (Dundee) are very hard to play against and we got a couple of goals.

“At the start of the second we were a little slow but we got back at it and we defended well in the third and did what we had to to find a win.

“It would have been huge as we score a goal to make it 4-1 but nobody sees it, goal-line tech is down.

“It keeps happening around the league but, as a league, we need to be better, we really do, across the board.

“The standard of play is too good right now for this to keep happening.

“I am a guy who cares what happens around this league as I have been here for six or seven years now, but this goalline technology has to work.”

Opposite number Omar Pacha admitted his men were behind the eight ball after this result.

Stars have played 15 games and have seven points and only misfiring Manchester Storm are beneath them, also with seven points but crucially from only 11 fixtures.

Nottingham Panthers, who have iced in 13 games, now occupy the eighth and final play-off position.

Stars have only had one win in their last eight games but the coach said there was still time to claim a top eight slot and qualify for the play-offs.

After the game Canadian Pacha said: “I am disappointed, to say the least.

“The worst thing is that I thought we played some good hockey at different times in the weekend.

“We want to make the play-offs and it is up to ourselves. We are behind the eight ball but there is still a lot of time.”
