Fresh appeal for witnesses after woman was sexually assaulted

-

Police have made a fresh appeal for information on a sexual assault in Dundee.

The incident took place in Balunie Crescent between 10.30am and 11.30am on October 19.

A man forced his way into a flat on the street and sexually assaulted a 32-year-old woman.

Police previously drew criticism for taking almost a week to make an initial appeal for witnesses to come forward and failing to warn residents the severity of the incident.

Detective Inspector Marc Lorente conceded the force understood residents’ concerns.

After extensive interviews with people in the area, officers say they have now “built up a picture of most of the people and vehicles” around at the time.

The search is on for a number of people in the area, including a man wearing black who was seen pacing back and forth on the street.

Mr Lorente, senior investigating officer, said: “We know now a white Transit van was parked outside flat numbers 32 and 34 Balunie Crescent and two men wearing high visibility vests were with the van.

“At this time another man was seen pacing back and forth between number 32 and 38. He was wearing a black tammystyled hat, dark waterproof jacket which was zipped right up, a scarf around his face and dark bottoms.

“We would appeal to these three men to come forward.

“There was also a small van broken down in Balunie Drive near to Balunie Crescent junction which was being pushed by a couple of men.”

Anyone with information should ring 101, quoting reference number 28062/19.
