Wilson is tempted to opt for French striker

-

Brechin City manager Mark Wilson is tempted to give French striker Emile N’Goy a first start in almost two months when the Glebe Park men go to Hampden to play Queen’s Park this afternoon.

N’Goy came off the bench last weekend against Edinburgh City for the final 16 minutes and scored twice as Wilson’s side almost secured a point against second-placed Edinburgh City, before going down 3-2.

Wilson said: “Emile is very much in my thoughts as he made such an impact when he came on last Saturday. He has not been able to start games recently due to a thigh problem.

“However, he is over that now and he could very well start in this one.

“Emile is desperate to play from the beginning as he knows that he is playing at a very famous ground. For a lot of our players it will be their first game at Hampden, which is a huge pitch, but we are not going there to admire things.”

The City boss saw enough a week ago to be confident that his bottom of the table team can take something home with them from their first visit to the National Stadium since both sides were in League 1 back in April 2017.

Wilson said: “For 85 minutes last weekend all that separated us from one of the best teams in this league was a wonder-strike.

“We got level with five minutes left and I would have been pleased with that.

“However, the game had a crazy ending. The equaliser seemed to affect our concentration and we lost two really bad goals very quickly before hitting back again. We had no luck in that period, either. However, if we play like we did for the vast majority of the game then we can do something.”

He added: “Queen’s Park had a terrific performance and result at Stenhousemuir last weekend so they will be tough opponents, but we can win.”

Wilson has no injuries or suspensions.
