Ruthless streak required to end Dumbarton hoodoo

-

East Fife manager Darren Young believes a first league win over Dumbarton since March 2012 would be the perfect response to seeing his side’s unbeaten start to the season end last weekend against Montrose.

Young said: “That record has gone, we will look to build another one now and this is the perfect game to do it in.

“Dumbarton were our bogey team last season, in fact they beat us all four times, and we drew with them earlier this season so it would be good to finally get a win over them.

“We never seemed to have any luck against them last year and that carried on in the 2-2 draw earlier in this campaign where we battered them but somehow found ourselves two goals down.

“We came back really well and would have won the game, had at least one of the two really strong penalty claims we had was given. Dumbarton had a chance to steal it right at the end and perhaps that being missed is a sign our luck is finally turning against them.”

The 1-0 defeat to the Gable Endies saw Young’s side drop to third and he is looking for a quick response.

He added: “There was not an awful lot wrong with our performance apart from the failing we have seen a few times of not taking chances.

“Montrose came to us on a high after winning four games in a row and the longer the game went on the more confident, they got but they should have been dead and buried.

“If we are ruthless, we can finally get the better of Dumbarton.”

Aaron Dunsmore misses out through suspension and Ross Dunlop is an injury doubt. Chris Duggan and Ryan Wallace should return after recovering from knocks.
