Flyers edged Guildford 2-0 in England last Sunday but failed to make it a double when the Surrey side emerged with a narrow 4-3 victory at Fife Ice Arena last night.

Mike Cazzola edged Fife ahead after 17 minutes but John Dunbar levelled only 15 seconds after the restart.

Jamie Crooks fired Flames ahead after 21 minutes and Owen Griffiths made it 3-1 seven minutes on.

Cazzola netted his second only 23 seconds later to hand Fife a lifeline and Chase Schaber levelled.

But the see-saw clash saw Ian Watters nudge Flames 4-3 ahead with less than nine minutes left and that proved to be the winner.

Flyers demolished Belfast Giants 5-1 on Saturday with Danick Gauthier saying: “That’s how we want to play.”

The Canadian hitman was one of four scorers on a heady night for more than 1,500 fans at Fife Ice Arena.

Fife made the perfect start with three goals in the opening session and a fourth in the middle period for a 4-0 lead.

The 28-year-old said: “It felt good to win against Belfast who are a really good team.

“I am very happy wit the win. They came pretty hard after they lost (in Sheffield) in midweek.

“We kept with our game plan and got the result. We just want to play the right way every night and that is how we want to play every game now.”

It was Tim Crowder who sparked the goal rush with the opener after 14 minutes. Carlo Finucci slotted the second on the powerplay just over three minutes later.

Gauthier’s counter game 43 seconds after that and Kyle Just popped in number four, also on the powerplay, after 37 minutes.

Ben Lake pulled one back on a powerplay 54 seconds into the final session but Finucci’s second in the 50th minute ended all hopes of a comeback.

Desperate Dundee Stars remained rooted to the bottom of the Elite League last night following a 4-1 home defeat by Belfast.

The Tayside team were level at 1-1 after 11 minutes, Drydn Dow equalising Curtis Hamilton’s opener for Belfast after seven minutes.

But then the roof fell in on Omar

Pacha’s side.

Lewis Hook edged the visitors ahead after 14 minutes and it was 3-1 after Liam Morgan converted after 32 minutes.

Brian Ward made it 4-1 only 21 seconds into the final stanza to make it a dismal weekend for Dundee, who lost 3-0 at Manchester Storm on Saturday.

Glasgow Clan, beaten 3-0 at home by Nottingham Panthers on Friday, completed a pointless weekend last night when they were whipped 7-3 at Cardiff Devils.
