Menzieshill fail to make most of early lead against Grange
There were some very strange results in the Men’s Indoor National League on Saturday.
First was Menzieshill’s 6-6 draw with Grange, a team they would normally expect to beat quite easily and who are clearly in the lower reaches of the division.
Menzieshill squandered an early two-goal lead over Grange to fall 3-2 behind by the interval.
Albert Rowling and Cammy Golden scored early in the second half, but Grange responded to tie the score at 4-4.
Jamie Golden and Albert Rowling gave Menzieshill a 6-4 lead.
However, they failed to hold on to that conceding twice in the last four minutes for a 6-6 draw.
Inverleith beat Dunfermline Carnegie by 7-3 and were clearly in the better form in the main match of the day against Menzieshill.
Jamie Golden and Olly James gave Menzieshill a 2-1 lead, but the Edinburgh side turned that around to lead by 5-2 at half-time.
Two goals by Cammy Golden brought Menzieshill back into the game but they could not find that elusive equaliser and conceded a late goal to go down by 6-4.
Menzieshill recovered to beat Uddingston 7-2 in the last match of the day, with Cammy Golden scoring four.
Elliott Sandison (2), Bobby Ralph, Sean Dowie, Callum Ross, Elliot Sandison and Kennedy Gibb scored in Dundee Wanderers’ 7-2 win over Uddingston.
Wanderers also beat last season’s champions Western Wildcats 3-2.
Leaders Inverleith are two points ahead of Menzieshill, with Wanderers a point behind with a game in hand.
In Division 2 Monarchs beat Hillhead 5-3 before losing to promotion favourites Watsonians 7-3 but remain in second place.
