Allanfauld’s Texels top crackers sale

Allanfauld’s Texel flock took the top two prices of 22,000gns and 12,000gns at the Lanark Crackers sale for breeders Archie and John MacGregor.

Leading the way was their ET-bred twin by Knap You’re the Man out of a dam by Baltier Wellington, which was bought by Procter’s Farm, Clitheroe

Their second-top price was a full ET sister of the sale topper, this time in-lamb to Garngour Bullet and with an index in the top 25%. This one was bought by Bruce Renwick for the Castlecairn flock at Kelso.

Following that at 7,500gns was a ewe lamb from Myfyr Evans’ Rhaeadr pen, a daughter of Garngour Alabama and out of a dam by the 145,000gns Knap Vicious Sid, she was knocked down to James Amphlett and Ellie Owens, Leominster.

Selling at 2,600gns was the best of the sale from Stuart Barclay’s Harestone flock, bought by Brian Buchan for the Clinterty flock, Aberdeenshire. Averages: 57 gimmers £1,658.26, eight ewe lambs £2,447.06. Meanwhile, at the breed’s Select Seven sale, Albert and George Howie’s Knock pen chalked up three of the day’s top four prices.

Heading up the price list at 20,000gns was an Allanfauld Am The Man daughter, bought by Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn who also paid the day’s second top price of 15,000gns for another by Am The Man and this time out of a Sportsmans Supreme daughter.

Messrs Cullen’s Craighead pen topper, a Hartside All Star daughter, sold to Myfyr Evans, Rhaeadr, at 13,000gns. The Howies took 11,000gns for another by Am The Man, from Archie and John MacGregor, Allanfauld and Stuart Barclay, Harestone.

Averages; 69 gimmers £2,344.65, five ewe lambs £1,344.
