Local heroes in running for Perth and Kinross sporting talent prize
Nominations have now opened for the annual Perth and Kinross Sports Awards.
Organisers at Live Active Leisure are encouraging people in the area to put forward their choices for one of 11 sporting awards.
The prizes aim to recognise the sporting talent in Perth and Kinross including school teams, local Olympians, individual coaches and large events.
Now in its 30th year, the upcoming awards ceremony will honour the clubs, individuals, teams and events that play an active role in the sporting life of Perth and Kinross.
Categories for this year’s awards include Sports Personality of the Year, School Team of the Year and Disability Sports Person of the Year.
Thorntons Solicitors in Perth will be headline sponsor for the ceremony.
Firm partner Bruce Renfrew said: “Recognising the achievement and contributions of people in the community is important to us.”
Nominees for an award must be a resident in Perth and Kinross for at least six months prior to the event, or be affiliated to a club or sport in Perth and Kinross.
All entries will be judged on sporting achievements which took place from January 1 to December 31 2019.
Previous award winners include Bradley Neil for golf, athlete Eilidh Child, Eve Muirhead for curling, swimmer Stephen Milne and Fiona Pennie for canoeing.
Entries close on January 17, with the ceremony set to take place on March 20 at the Dewars Centre, Perth.
