Some questions for public men – what is to be done with the Stannergate Air Station and with the splendid hut village at Craigie? How much longer will Dundee Town Council (which is supposed to represent the public interests) tolerate the catch-penny system of the Dundee and Broughty Ferry Tramways Company of charging 2d from Broughty to Barnhill and 2d from Broughty to West Ferry? Angus opposition councillors have walked away from a group being set up to tweak the area’s parking charges scheme after failing in a bid to force an immediate suspension of the controversial system. The SNP group has said it will not participate in the member officer body being set up to look at possible changes including cash or voucher payments because it does not believe the plans go far enough. In a rancorous meeting, opposition calls for a review of the scheme and an annual permit cut were ruled incompetent.
