Bradbury admits it’s now time to produce

-

Scotland forward Magnus Bradbury accepts his international apprenticeship is over and he and others need to start producing results.

The 24-year-old won his 12th cap in this month’s Calcutta Cup clash as Scotland suffered their second seven-point defeat of the Guinness Six Nations following an agonising opener in Ireland.

Scotland now face Italy in Rome this Saturday and Bradbury admits he needs to come of age in a dark blue jersey.

The back-row forward said: “A lot of young guys were transitioned through the World Cup, me included. There is more responsibility on us now.

“We have played a couple of games for Scotland and we are hungry to play a lot more.

“But to do that we need to keep pushing the team and put the team first as well as trying to grow our own game.

“It’s an exciting place to be and it seems the squad is going in the same direction. I feel we can produce results in the coming season and this season as well.”

The former Edinburgh captain knows Scotland need to produce an 80-minute display and learn to be more clinical following their opening defeats.

But he aims to look at the Italy game in isolation and not focus on the pressure of atoning for the setbacks.

“We want to individualise these games,” he said.

We can’t dwell on what has happened, we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.

“It’s a short week and for us as players it’s about turning these weeks around and start preparing for the next opposition.

“Preparation is key to winning these Test matches and these tight matches.”
