Second Kinross break-in sparks police appeal for information

-

Thieves smashed their way into an empty house in Kinross and rifled through it.

Police are trying to find out what was stolen from the property and are appealing for anyone who was in the area, or has information on the breakin, to come forward.

The incident happened on Avenue Road at around 1.45am on February 20.

Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a glass panel on a door had been smashed and the door was lying open.

A number of drawers and cupboards looked like they had been searched.

Constable Lynn Finlay at Kinross Police Office said inquiries are continuing.

She said: “The house was unoccupied at the time of the break-in and we are still trying to establish whether anything was stolen from the property.

“I am keen to speak with anyone hanging around the Avenue Road area of Kinross in the early hours of Thursday.”

It follows a break-in at Kinross Bowling Club early last week, when thieves smashed through locked doors.

A collection of valuable items were stolen including club trophies, grass-cutting machinery and a collection of electric and gas heaters.

The gents’ championship trophy featuring the name of every winner since the Second World War, and the prize for the main team winners, were both taken.

Bowling club bosses said the thieves’ fingerprints were found at the scene on a discarded cash box.

Police say they are not linking the incidents.

Anyone with information on either crime should contact police on 101.
