Bollan wants Blue Brazil to cut out defensive blunders

-

Cowdenbeath manager Gary Bollan has told his players to forget about last Saturday’s 4-1 home defeat from Stirling and keep hosts Elgin at bay in the search for an end of season promotion play-off place.

Bollan said: “This is a big game as Elgin will want to jump above us in the table. We have sat in the top three from the very early stages of the season and are not keen to give it up.”

“Every game between now and the end of the season is going to be hugely important in terms of being involved in the play-offs. The fact that up to seven clubs are still looking to finish in the top four means that you have to look to take something from every game.” “That will be our approach at Elgin.” Bollan is looking his side’s defence to be recognisable as he explained: “I do not think we can be as bad defensively again in terms of the mistakes that we made against Stirling.

“We made far too many errors and to be honest at times it did not look like the defence that has served us so well this season.”

“It was not only the mistakes that hurt us we seemed to make them and get punished at key times in the game. We lost goals right at the start of the game and just after we got back into it at 2-1.

It is all about moving on from that display and being much more like ourselves at Borough Briggs.”

On-loan Hearts youngster Chris Hamilton will miss out after an appeal against his dismissal in the game with the Forthbank men was unsuccessful with Bollan saying: “I thought that we had a strong case with Chris and I was disappointed at the appeal outcome.

“I watched similar fouls in the Premiership last weekend that were only fouls or a yellow card so for him to miss two games is frustrating.”

Michael Herd returns after an ankle injury however Gavin Morrison is a major injury doubt.
