Flyers star keen to turn to coaching

-

Fife Flyers star Sam Jones has launched an online business to help the next generation of athletes make it to the top in their sport.

The Birmingham-born defenceman, who iced for the Kirkcaldy-based Elite League club last season, aims to build a stable of athletes who will undergo a disciplined training regime. They can also get help with their nutrition.

The athlete will use knowledge gained during his ice hockey career through the junior development ranks in North America and also in professional ice hockey in Britain.

Sessions will be conducted via a specially-designed app and digital technology allowing Sam to continue his own on-ice career.

Jones, 22, speaking from his parents’ home in Alberta, Canada, said: “If you are an athlete looking for someone to help make you faster, stronger, and more explosive, you’ve found your guy.

“The programme is achieved via virtual learning and using communications is part of life now, particularly since Covid-19 arrived.”

Sam is a certificated personal trainer and added: “I have several years of coaching experience and have spent the last three years training youth athletes with great results.

“There are some hugely talented young players in Britain who are desperate to make it to professional level, but it is a massive step.

“In North America guys who are 17 or 18 may not be fully grown but they are powerful, strong athletes as they have been involved with a structured training programme for a number of years. That is a big advantage.

“Youngsters who want to make it to the top level here are unlikely to have a structured training and nutrition programme tailored to them. That’s where I can help by oneto-one tuition.”
