Care group appeals for new members

- ANITA DIOURI

A Perthshire care and wellbeing group is appealing for new members to help support those in rural areas who need additional assistance.

The Care and Wellbeing Community Interest Company (CWCIC) works across Perth and Kinross to support people in their own communities.

Set up in 2015, the CWCIC is a group of self-employed professionals, carers, and wellbeing specialists and works alongside organisations such as the Health and Social Care Partnership.

Olivia Robertson of The Home Straight in Alyth, which supports older people, is a director.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome six new members who bring a range of skills and a wealth of experience, further boosting the services we can offer.

“We welcome all professionals who share our vision of compassionate, flexible and personalised care.”

Carer Jill Davies of Blairgowrie is one of the newest members. She said it is a “real privilege” to help give people greater autonomy in their quality of life decision-making.

She said: “I become a self-employed carer after spending two years as a project worker looking at how rural communities in Perthshire support older people to live independently for longer.

“It is a real privilege to give people back the power to make decisions around their quality of life, simply by being there to help when they need it.

“As a member I look forward to receiving opportunities I wouldn’t always access and being part of the care sector in Perthshire.”

New member Murthly-based Daniele Muir said: “I strongly believe that nature and the outdoors are great healers and help with both physical and mental wellbeing, and the lockdown has shown how true this is.

“I very much enjoy helping people reconnect with nature and have worked with a number of mental health groups and care homes across Perthshire over the past 15 years or so.

“I was keen to get involved with the Care and Wellbeing CIC to meet like-minded people and to discover new ways to help people.”
