Kane leads Spurs to win over Foxes

- Spurs’ Harry Kane beats Kasper Schmeichel.

A Harry Kane masterclass helped Tottenham strengthen their Europa League hopes with a 3-0 win over Leicester, whose own European ambitions suffered a damaging blow.

Kane scored two fine goals in the first half, after James Justin’s early own goal, to set up the three points that leaves Jose Mourinho’s men in the top six with one game to go after four league wins in a row.

And there is little surprise that Kane was the man to inspire it as he simply loves playing Leicester, with his tally now standing at 16 goals in 14 games against the midlands club.

Leicester might also be looking at Europa League qualification after a loss that hands Manchester United the impetus in the race for the Champions League as they remain level on points, but with

United still having two games to play.

The Foxes will be watching their match with West Ham on Wednesday with eager eyes, but will know they are likely to have to beat United in Sunday’s final game if they are to finish in the top four. Struggling Bournemouth’s Premier League survival hopes were left hanging by a thread following late VAR drama in a damaging 2-0 home defeat to local rivals Southampton.

Cherries academy graduate Sam Surridge thought he had cancelled out Danny Ings’ opener deep into stoppage time at the Vitality Stadium only for the strike to be chalked off for an offside against Callum Wilson.

Saints substitute Che Adams compounded the hosts’ misery by doubling the advantage in the final moments.
