A pair of suspected drug dealers have appeared in court, with one of them accused of leading police on a 24-mile chase at nearly 100 miles per hour.

Robert Traynor, 22, and Connor McLeod, 25, are both alleged to have supplied heroin and diazepam on the A90 Perth to Dundee road on July 23.

They appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday to face a petition alleging five charges and neither entered any plea.

Traynor, of Charleston Drive, is alleged to have driven dangerously on the M90 Edinburgh to Perth road and the A90 Perth to Dundee road.

He is alleged to have driven continually in excess of 95 miles per hour and swerved between lanes of the carriageway for approximately 24 miles.

Traynor also faces a charge of failing to stop for uniformed police officers when requested to do so.

McLeod, Ladywell Avenue, Dundee, is alleged to have attacked PC Steven Whittet at Ninewells Hospital by swinging a punch and trying to headbutt him. He was allegedly released on bail the day before.

Both men appeared briefly in private before Sheriff Thomas Hughes and were granted bail. The case against both was continued for further examination.

A Police Scotland spokesman said £5,500 worth of heroin and £2,500 worth of Valium was recovered by officers in the Inchmichael area on Thursday night at 9.35pm.

“If you have any information or concerns about drug misuse, do not hesitate to contact Police Scotland on 101 or report this anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
