STIRLING: Caledonian Marts Ltd had an “exceptiona­l entry” for quality forward at their premier calf sale yesterday. Baluskie, Barrhill ave £1,167 for 60 sold, up £202 per head on the year. Markhill Farms, Glenduisk, ave £1,138 for 40, up £201, and Camregan, Girvan, ave £1,164 for 80 sold, up £170.

Bullocks average 250p (+42p on the year) selling to 302p for a pen of Limousins from Markhill Farms, Glenduisk, Barrhill and to £1,470 for a pen of Limousins from Camregan, Girvan. Heifers averaged 236p (+31p and sold to 290p and £1,360 for a pen of Limousins also from Camregan. Prime bullocks to 245p for a Limousin from Penston, Macmerry, and to £165 for a Limousin from Molemount, Galston. Bulls (Under 30 months) sold to 210p and £1,428 for a Limousin from, Mains of Throsk, Throsk.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts sold 1,488 store and breeding sheep incorporat­ing the annual sale of HISHA accredited sheep and 656 on behalf of Lewis Livestock Producers on Thursday. Gimmers (389) averaged £130.74 (+£30.85 on the year) and sold to £172 for a pen of Texel crosses from 3 Balnabeen, Conon Bridge.

Ewes (231) averaged £89.11 (+£18.34 on the year) and sold to £162 for a pen of Texel crosses from the dispersal of Keppernach Farm, Nairn.

Ewe lambs (590) averaged £92.93 (+£30.01 on the year) and sold to £126 for a pen of Cheviots from Tombreck, Dallas.

Store lambs (278) averaged £52.21 (+£6.01 on the year) and sold to £90 for a Suffolk cross from Spierfield, Balblair.

Lewis Livestock Producers lambs (656) sold to £68 for a pen of Texel crosses from 10 Valtos, Uig.

Prime heifers (9) averaged 222.4p (+0.9p) and sold to 239p per kg or £1,481.80 for a 620kg Limousin Cross from Waterside, Forbes, and bought by W & J Cameron. Young bulls (7) averaged 182.3p (+9.6p) and sold to 225p or £1,440 for a 640kg Charolais Cross from Mains of Leask, Slains.

30 to 36 month:

Bullocks (2) ave 139.1p, to 143p £765.05 for a 535kg Highland from Craigen Gowrie, Rathen.

Heifers (2) ave 161.2p, to 167p or £1,260.85 for a 755kg AA from Galcantray, Cawdor.
