Unpaid work for executive who had indecent images of children

A magazine marketing executive who was caught with more than 500 indecent images of children has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Paul Milne was found with the material at his former home in Dundee when police officers raided it in the wake of a tip-off.

The haul of material included some of the most graphic Category A images, Dundee Sheriff Court heard.

Milne, 32, of Elmbank Street, Glasgow, admitted two charges of having and downloading 567 indecent images at Glenclova Terrace in Dundee in 2018.

Solicitor John Boyle, defending, told the court yesterday: “There is remorse and some insight into the harm these offences caused.

“The report says there has been some minimisation of the offending, but that is quite common in this kind of case. He has no previous convictions or other involvement with police.”

Milne, who was a marketing executive at the time of the offences, is now working in a call centre.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael said: “These are serious offences and would normally be in the category of a custodial sentence.

“It is a positive report and does say you are suitable for unpaid work and supervision.

“Due to the relatively low number of Category A and B images, and the fact you have not offended before, I can go down a non-custodial line.”

Milne was placed on the sex offenders register and under supervision for 18 months and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
