Fifers need to recover from their opening day disappointment

-

East Fife boss Darren Young reckons his side’s game with visitors Montrose will be won by the side who puts aside their disappointment the most.

Young’s team finished with just nine men as they lost their opening day fixture 3-1 at Cove Rangers while the Gable Endies lost two late goals to go down by the same score to Falkirk at Links Park.

The Methil manager said: “We were disappointed at how last week turned out and Montrose were disappointed at how last weekend turned out. It was a frustrating start to the season for both sides and whoever handles that frustration the best will be well-placed to win this one.”

Young is confident his side can move on as he explained: “When it was 11 v 11 last Saturday it was a fairly even game. Then Danny Denholm was sent off and I thought it was a so-so decision.”

“The referee said that Danny had tackled aggressively but anyone that knows Danny knows that is not in his game. What made it worse is that Cove grabbed a goal from the resultant freekick after they worked the ball into an area where Danny would have been had he still been on the pitch.”

“We lost another goal that could have been prevented but got back into things at 2-1 thanks to a good finish from Jack Hamilton. We never gave up and I was just away to put Danny Swanson on and make a real go of getting level when they scored their third. That was the game over especially as Aaron Dunsmore was sent off shortly after that.”

Young added: “We will look to get back on track against a Montrose side who will be saying something similar after seeing a point slip away against Falkirk.”

Denho lm and Dunsmore miss out following their red cards however Ross Davidson is available again after a ban.
