Raith bolster forward line with loan deal for Livi striker Lokotsch
Championship leaders Raith Rovers have strengthened their attacking options with the loan signing of Livingston striker Lars Lokotsch.
The German joined the Lions in August after the depar ture of Lyndon Dykes for QPR and has made five appearances, netting his first goal in the Betfred Cup victory over Edinburgh City.
But the 24- year- old, who made his name in the German lower leagues, has had to make do with a substitute’s role in the last few weeks following the arrival of ex- Arsenal player Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.
Rovers, who have scored eight goals in their opening two Championship matches, have found themselves light up front because of an injury to former Dunfermline and Reading marksman Gozie Ugwu and the departure last week of Grant Anderson to Kelty Hearts.
And Lokotsch, who has signed until mid-January, will ensure competition for Dutchman Manny Duku, who took his tally to four goals in four games with a double in Saturday’s 5-2 hammering of Queen of the South.
Assistant Paul Smith said: “Lars’ signing strengthens our options up front in the time that he will be with us, and after Grant Anderson moving on to Kelty, we felt it was the right time to bring a player into the squad.
“Lars has the physical attributes that we look for in a player – he is good in the air, has an eye for goal and he will give us options that will work well in conjunction with Manny Duku and the rest of our forward-thinking players.
“On behalf of myself, manager John McGlynn and the football club, I’d like to place on record our thanks to David Martindale of Livingston FC for his assistance and co-operation in arranging this loan deal.”
