Two Perth men in court after M90 operation recovers cocaine haul
Two Pe r t h men h av e appeared in court after being arrested in connection with the recovery of two kilos of cocaine worth £223,000.
Charles Dewar, 62 and Steven Dewar, 33, made a brief appearance in private at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday.
Both men are alleged to have been concerned in the supply of cocaine on the M90 Edinburgh to Pe r t h motorway on Wednesday.
Charles Dewar, Newhouse Road, Perth, is also alleged to have been in possession of cannabis when he was arrested.
Steven Dewar, County Place, Pe r t h , faces a separate charge of being in possession of cocaine during the same incident.
Neither entered any plea and the case against both was continued for further examination. They were both granted bail.
A police spokesman confirmed that two men
had been arrested and charged in connection with drug offences following a recovery of cocaine worth £223,000.
Officers from Tayside road policing stopped a car on the M90 southbound near Perth around 1pm on Wednesday.
Inspector Greg Burns, of Tayside road policing unit, said: “This was a significant recovery that shows the partnership working of the road
policing, dog, community impact and CID units within Police Scotland.
“We will continue to deter any drug- related activity from our communities and act on any information surrounding the supply of drugs across the country.
“There is no place for drugs on our streets and I would ask that if anyone has any concerns surrounding this that they come forward and speak to police.”
