Scottish Athletics chief executive Mark Munro is to leave the organisation to take up a new role with UK Athletics.

It is almost 10 years since the former hill running age group international joined the governing body as development director, later becoming CEO in an interim capacity in the summer of 2016 before a permanent appointment in October 2016.

During his tenure as CEO, Scottish Athletics were named Governing Body of the Year at the Scottish Sports Awards in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Rafael Nadal praised the ATP Finals in London as one of tennis’ best events as the O2 prepares to bid farewell to the tournament behind closed doors.

Close to three million fans have made the trip to Greenwich since the first edition in 2009 and it is hugely unfortunate that that tally will not be added to before the ATP’s showpiece event heads to Turin next year.

Nadal said: “The experience to play the ATP Finals at the O2 here in London has been one of the best, without a doubt.

“The atmosphere in this amazing stadium, the organisation has been great, the event has been very popular around the world, so I think the ATP made a great job choosing the O2, choosing London and creating a fantastic event for so many years.”

Great Britain’s Neah Evans and Matt Walls each secured their second gold medal of this year’s European Track Cycling Championships yesterday.

Evans won the individual event as she posted a time of 3:29.456, beating Italy’s Martina Alzini by more than two seconds. Team-mate Josie Knight finished fourth.

Walls took victory in the men’s omnium by 12 points while Laura Kenny took silver after finishing second in the women’s omnium.
