East Fife boss urging his men to add points to promising displays

East Fife manager Darren Young has told his players he is fed up with hardluck stories and that it is time the progression they have made this season was announced with a win at Partick Thistle.

T he Fifers head to Glasgow on the back of a 1-0 defeat from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Betfred Cup, with Young saying: “I was really pleased with the performance the players put in last Saturday.

“It built on the way the team p l ay e d for the majority of the game against Hearts in the midweek before, but it was another game we lost.

“Against Hear ts we made a terrible start and lost two goals in the first 90 seconds before being the better team.

“At Inverness, we had a terrible end to the game as Jack Hamilton had an injury-time penalty saved.”

“It is great to be talking about how well the players have played, but I am fed up talking about coming close.

“When you look back at our Betfred Group we deserved more points than we picked up and we need to start turning those types of performances into wins in the league, starting at Partick Thistle.”

Young added: “We have progressed as a team recently as, after losing to Falkirk, we played better in our last league game against Dumbarton.

“We improved against Hearts and improved again at Inverness – and it would be great to improve again at Partick.

“They are a big club. I would go as far to say they are a Premiership club, but they are in our league and looking to make an impact in it.

“We need to show we are good enough to win games like this one.”

Ryan Wa l l a c e and Danny Swanson are injury doubts, with Young hopeful at least one of them will recover enough to make the game.
