Bollan wants Cowden to be more clinical in meeting with Rovers

-

Cowdenbeath boss Gary Bollan admits his side need to be more clinical if they are looking to move up the League Two table.

The Blue Brazil followed up last Saturday’s promising draw against Stranraer with a defeat to Edinburgh City on Tuesday and Bollan says his players need to take their chances if they are to move clear of the danger area by beating one of the two sides that sit below them.

He said: “Albion Rovers is another difficult home game for us and it is just another one in a number of important games coming up in the coming weeks.

“The players are getting fitter and stronger the longer we go on and hopefully they will get sharper in front of goal as that is an area we need to improve on.

“We were really threatening in the second half of Tuesday’s game, probably the most we have been since the resumption, and we need to take that into the Rovers game.

“We have to try and make home advantage count again.

“I thought we started the second half of the Edinburgh game very well and created a good chance.

“I thought we put quite a lot of pressure on them and hit the bar then had one cleared off the line before they went up the other end and scored.

“If we turn these chances into goals, we pick up points.”

Bollan also backed goalkeeper Nicky Hogarth to recover from his mistake in the midweek defeat.

He said: “He is a young goalkeeper and I am sure he will learn from that mistake.

“I am sure he will bounce back against Albion Rovers.”
