Positive stories point to good times ahead

-

Feeling hopeful for the future is one of the greatest emotions you can experience in life. Be it the security of employment, the excitement of a fresh challenge or the contentment of your loved ones, looking ahead with a sense of satisfaction rather than dread is something we all crave.

There has been little cheer around of late, but there is at last a tangible feeling that the tide is beginning to turn.

The recent announcement of Dundee as one of the best places in the world to live and work for generations ahead is a significant indicator of that. The accolade, afforded in tech company Cognizant’s 21 Places of the Future, cements the city’s place on the map as a noteworthy destination which is likely to attract increased talent and investment.

But it is more than just that. Recognition also boosts the morale of those already fortunate enough to live there and beyond. What is good for one part of Courier Country ultimately benefits our territory as a whole.

And a feelgood air is infectious. That’s why it is important to hear stories like the apprentices of the Scottish Crannog Centre at Kenmore voicing their excitement at getting back to work, and former marine Graeme Ogg coming through the other side of redundancy from the oil and gas industry.

Delighting in his newfound career in tree surgery, the Monifieth man talks of at last seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

All these tales lift the spirit and remind us that even when life seems bad, good times may be just around the corner.
