With more than three decades of experience in caring for elderly residents in Fife, Abbotsford Care is always on the lookout for the right kind of people.

To work in the care profession requires a special type of person and someone who knows all about this is Karen Mckechnie, founder and company principal.

In the last 34 years, since the organisation was founded in 1987, Karen has recruited an army of carers to staff the organisation’s home in Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Kinglassie, East Wemyss, Cowdenbeath, Methil, Newburgh, and Dunfermline.

Family-run Abbotsford Care is delighted to have so many dedicated staff, and so to show how it values them, the firm threw a 30th anniversary party for them all in 2017. Abbotsford Care is committed to staff training, learning and development it is no wonder many staff members have achieved many years of service with the family. In fact, one carer has been with the family since the beginning, while a handful of others have notched up 25 years’ service.

That’s testament to Abbotsford Care as an employer, but also to the staff and residents themselves who contribute to the atmosphere, strength of community and quality of care in the homes across Fife, making them a pleasure to work in.
