Perthshire curler Eve Muirhead and her Scotland team will face Olympic champions Sweden in tomorrow’s (Saturday) European Championship final after rallying from two shots down to squeeze past Germany in last night’s semi-final in Lillehammer, Norway.

The two-time European champion and her colleagues Hailey Duff, Jennifer Dodds and Vicky Wright beat Daniela Jentsch’s German rink 9-5 on

Monday on their way to topping the round-robin standings, but it was a different story last night as two steals against the Scottish throw saw them trail 3-1 at the halfway stage.

The Scots drew level with a two at the sixth end and then managed a steal of their own to lead for the first time, but Jentsch soon made it all-square again.

Muirhead’s inspired final shot at the ninth yielded a tartan two and a 6-4 advantage going to the last end, where she used all her experience to close out a 7-4 win and reach her eighth European final. Sweden also had to overcome a two-shot deficit when they pipped Russia 5-4 in the first semifinal. Anna Hasselborg’s team lost to Muirhead in the 2017 European final but took revenge in 2019.
