HIBEE ALLAN SEES NEW BOSS AS A NEW DAWN

-

Scott Allan admits he is desperate to seize his fresh start under new Hibs boss Shaun Maloney after making a rare start in Wednesday’s victory over Aberdeen.

The former Dundee United and Dundee midfielder was recalled to the team for the first time since October and earned only his fourth starting appearance of the season as new manager Maloney kicked off his managerial reign with a win.

Allan struggled for regular game time under predecessor Jack Ross and even came close to joining St Mirren during the summer before that move collapsed at the eleventh hour.

However, with former Belgium assistant coach Maloney now in charge, Allan, who worked briefly with the 38-year-old at Celtic, is keen to make the most of his chance to impress.

“In terms of my personal situation, it’s been an up and down season for me,” admitted Allan.

“I’ve had to come on in games and sometimes I wasn’t getting on.

“In my few starts we’ve had some decent results so for me it’s about keeping myself professional and then when called upon, go out and do a job.

“I’ve known the manager from my time at Celtic; he was working there with the reserves.

“Obviously the way he wants to play, he sees some of my attributes in the way he wants to play.

“It was good to get the nod because it’s been a while since I started a game. I’m happy to get the fitness up and get off to a good start with the win.

“In terms of over the last two days in what he has implemented, you could probably see that, in terms of some of the control we had with the ball. It’s a great start and we have a lot to work on.

“There’s a lot to work on in terms of how we want to play. I think we saw more than you would expect of that because we’ve only had two sessions.

“We have adapted well as a squad to the new changes.

“In terms of me, it gives you confidence when a new manager comes in and gives me the nod and we got off to a winning start.”
