Time for Reilly to get off the mark at fourth ask

-

Reilly deserves to get off the mark at the fourth time of asking in the Mansionbet Proud To Support British Racing Maiden Hurdle at Bangor.

Dan Skelton’s six-yearold has finished second in all his three races under Rules to date, but there are no questions about his attitude.

Having found one too good on his debut at Warwick in February, he underwent wind surgery.

He made his seasonal return in November at Exeter when he was no match for Neil Mulholland’s nice prospect Brief Times, who went on to defy a penalty on his next start.

Reilly then faced what might prove to have been a pretty stiff task against Nicky Henderson’s Surrey Quest, another who has gone on to win again.

It is a small field but there are two decent rivals in Barrowdale and Contemplatemyfaith, but

Reilly would not be winning out of turn.

It is no surprise to see Lucinda Russell get Green Vault out again quickly before the handicapper has a chance to reassess him.

Another who had a wind operation, he was third on his return from surgery at Ayr in December but fairly bolted up back there on Sunday.

Jockey Alan Doyle can claim his full 7lb in the Magners Handicap Hurdle after taking off 5lb in a race restricted to conditionals at the weekend.

This six-year-old looks a good bit ahead of the handicapper at present.

Evan Williams’ Oxwich Bay should strip fitter for his first run of the season when he turns out again in the Corona Beer Handicap Hurdle.

He threatened to take a hand in the finish at Chepstow before fading out. Now 10, he is only rated 104 over hurdles, 6lb lower than he is over fences.
