Becoming an electric bike rider has changed my life – Chris Phin

-

If you are on social media and interested in e-bikes, there’s a chance you may already know Chris Phin. That’s because the keen e-biker films videos and shares facts about e-bikes on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and tiktok.com/@ebikenuggs

And since he began riding an e-bike, he has clocked up more than 6,000 miles on it! Here is Chris’ story:

“I tried cycling a manual bike for my commute when I lived in London, but it was a bit of a chore, the infrastructure wasn’t great, and it entailed extra logistics so I could shower and change when I arrived. It just wasn’t fun. “When I moved here, there were no convenient public transport options. So the e-bike was a tool, really, no more, when I bought it, and while that’s still true today, one of the things that has been wonderful to discover is how much fun it is.

“We bought an e-bike for my wife because whenever she borrowed mine, she, like everyone, just ended each journey with a grin.

Physical health benefits, yes – but huge mental health benefits too! “I love using the bike to run to the shops, commute along the everchanging Tay, or take a load of cardboard recycling to the dump in my trailer, they are all terrific, fun things.

“The bikes are expensive, but I measure and calculated that doing my usual 40 or 50 miles a week, I used about £10 in electricity per year – and I’m happier and healthier into the bargain!”
