Arbroath ready to put vital victory on table

-

ARBROATH captain Bryce Carnegie has issued a rallying call to his struggling team ahead of a crucial Eastern Premier game with Stewart’s Melville at Lochlands.

Beset by selection problems and the continued absence of South African professional Wihan Lubbe, the side have lost all six of their completed fixtures.

Carnegie took heart from aspects of last week’s performance at Watsonians, believes his men can throw themselves a lifeline with victory.

He said: “It’s make or break time for us and all the players know that, so I’m expecting us to play hard and push the opposition all the way.

“We still don’t have Wihan but otherwise we have a full team out so we really need to capitalise on that and have a good all-round performance.”

Ryan Plomer, Craig Cameron, Craig Ross and Marc Petrie, who missed the trip to Myreside, all return for this afternoon’s clash.

Falkland, narrowly beaten by Stewarts Melville a week ago, entertain an in-form RH Corstorphine side who have moved second top of the table.

Scroggie Park skipper Lyle Robertson said: “It’s going to be a tough one against a very good side who are going well. But I’ve said all season I believe we can beat any team on our day.”

Forfarshire came off second best to Grange last Saturday when free-scoring Scotland duo Chris Greaves and Dylan Budge led the Edinburgh team to a winning total.

Shire have their own big-hitting Scotland man Michael Leask back for today’s clash with Carlton at Forthill.

His return will lend batting support to Craig Wallace, the division’s leading scorer with 343 runs.
