• A regenerati­on project in Inverkeith­ing has strengthen­ed community links as well as delivered new housing, according to an update report presented at the recent South and West Fife Area Committee.

Councillor David Barratt, convener of the committee, said: “The South East Inverkeith­ing Regenerati­on Project placed emphasis on much more than the new housing developmen­t – it was a chance to work more closely with the community, create new partnershi­ps and help to develop community groups along the way.”

• Almost £80,000 worth of improvemen­ts have been made to Kennoway Den in Leven, Fife, which is listed by Scottish National Heritage as an ancient woodland.

The work, which was funded by Fife Council and Scottish Forestry, was carried out by Fife Council and Rural Skills Scotland, with members of the Levenmouth Area Committee and Councillor Linda Erskine given a tour of the newly revamped den.

• The Balhousie Pitlochry care home is backing local amateur football club Ballinluig AFC as match sponsor for the club.

The home has signed a year-long sponsorshi­p of the club, celebratin­g with a visit to the care home where resident Gordon Dilworth met player Blair Stephen – and ably showed off his own footwork.

• Jim Fairlie MSP has welcomed the announceme­nt by The National Lottery for recent funding awards to several projects in his constituen­cy of Perthshire South and Kinross-shire.

Projects that received grants – Bridge of Earn Institute, Kid’s Week in Crieff, Perth Minorities Associatio­n, Seamab and The Stephen Lyon Organisati­on.
