Swifts and Hawthorn win in Fife derbies

The new management team at Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts got off to the perfect start with a 1-0 EOSL Premier Division win over secondplac­ed Crossgates Primrose at Dalgety Bay.

Liam Kelly was the Swifts hero with the winner on 74 minutes to secure their first league win since August.

Dundonald Bluebell and Hill Of Beath Hawthorn served up a typically robust Fife derby at Moorside Park, with the visitors taking all three points thanks to a stoppage-time winner.

Bluebell took the lead on the half-hour but Ross Allum levelled it up five minutes before half-time. With the game looking like it would finish with the honours even, Allum struck the winner in the second minute of added time.

Jeanfield Swifts found their scoring boots again as they thrashed struggling Oakley United 7-0 at Riverside.

The Perth outfit led 3-0 at half-time thanks to a three-goal burst in the middle of the first period, with Chris Mcleish scoring twice and Fraser Smith also on the scoresheet.

Connor Mclaren and Chris Dodd made it 5-0 before Mcleish completed his hat-trick on 89 minutes with Paul Simpson completing the rout in stoppage-time.

Kinnoull got their promotion challenge back on track with a 3-0 win over Rosyth at Tulloch Park.

Kirkcaldy & Dysart were another side to get their promotion challenge restarted, securing a Fife derby win over Kennoway Star Hearts at Alex Penman Park

Jay Watson had given Kennoway the lead, only for Owen Andrew to equalise with his first goal for Kirkcaldy.

Hearts came back again and restored their lead on the half-hour through Kyle Stark. But once again the home side equalised through Jay Bridgeford right on half-time.

Both sides had chances to win it but the decider didn’t come until the last minute, with Kirkcaldy taking the points thanks to John Smith’s goal

An entertaini­ng encounter between Burntislan­d Shipyard and Glenrothes at Recreation Park surprising­ly ended goalless as both sides had to settle for a point.

The game between Lochore Welfare and Luncarty was postponed due to a waterlogge­d pitch

In Division Two, Thornton Hibs made the long journey down to the borders to take on

Hawick Royal Albert and had to settle for a point from a 0-0 draw.

St Andrews were the big movers in Division Two with Robbie Raeside’s men taking advantage of Arniston Rangers and Stirling University drawing 3-3 as they beat Tweedmouth 3-0 at home.

Saints moved into fourth place after Seff Khyam gave them the lead, before James Collins scored a double to secure an important three points.

Lochgelly Albert led 2-0 at leaders Syngenta after just eight minutes through two goals from Sean Johnstone but eventually went down 6-3 to the title favourites.

Newburgh took the lead on nine minutes through Michael Perrie at Whitburn but that was as good as it got with the visitors eventually losing 6-1, with Ross Crawford scoring a hat-trick for Whitburn.

Scone Thistle crashed out of the Thornton Property Cup after losing 3-0 at home to Brechin Vics in the second round. Scone ended the game with 10 men after Ross Loudon was red-carded.

In the Mcbookie.com Midlands League Coupar Angus went down 4-1 away to title hopefuls Kirrie Thistle, while Blairgowri­e and Letham had to settle for a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Davie Park.
